捕鱼工具可分为叉、钩、网三类。鱼叉有活杆叉和连杆叉两种。活杆叉是叉中鱼之后，叉杆与叉头可以脱离，叉头的套上拴有绳子，可以拖住叉中的鱼不被逃脱。活杆叉又有大小之分，大的用来捕鳇鱼，以前能捕到500公斤重的鳇鱼，现在400公斤左右的也不多见了。捕捞鳇鱼时至少得２人合作，把舢板船插桩固定在水深1至1.5米的急流滩中，等鳇鱼逆流而上时，在５至10米处开始捕鱼，几乎都会被叉中。鱼被叉中后，会挣扎，叉绳会被鱼拽走，渔民就会看着漂去追，将鱼拖到船上。如果鱼太大，就直接拖到岸边，将绳子拴在树干上，等鱼无力时宰割运回去。
冬季捕鱼又是一种不一样的方法。渔民会先在江面冰上建一小屋，在屋中凿一个直径1米的冰窟窿，关起门来，屋里变暗之后，冰下免就会很清晰很亮。鱼游到冰洞的时候很容易看到和叉中。以前鱼多的时候，渔民就坐在冰洞旁用笊篱向外舀鱼，半天就可捕捞到上吨的鲜鱼。然后再利用天然冷冻，装箱运往各地。
捕不同的鱼用不同的钩。有种被称为“快钩”的渔具，是在40至50米的钓绳上拴有300个鱼钩，每钩一次，就可获得一串活鱼。
网捕的收获量最大。每当渔讯来临，渔民便家家户户备干粮补鱼网，作好捕鱼准备。他们一般使用长10米至15米，宽２至５米片网捕鱼，在水域宽阔的地方，有时将10多片网连接在一起使用。碰上好运气一网就能捕到5000多公斤鱼。
