The Practice of close-up shot

Personally, close-up shot has a special power. Usually, documentary will keep a distance from the people or object politely. People’s eye will not be limited by that distance. They can see through the darkness and distance by their soul. So, camera should also be sharp enough to see through the life through close-up shot. Shots taken by standard lens and long lens will create a different feeling for the audience. Shots taken by standard lens give the audience pressures as they are looking closely which make the film first-person perspective. If the audience does not agree with what being framed, then they may feel uncomfortable.
For close-up shots taken by long lens, it gives a feeling of you are watch in a distance which makes you feel uninvolved and outside of the issue. The audience feels like exploring life with zooming of long lens. Using long lens for close-up shots not only improving the accuracy and concentration of the film but also show the shooter is paying attention from a distance.

Scallop Fishing Documentary

Part 1 of follow Brian in Mevagissey Cornwall as he sets out to catch Scallops, learn how the equipment on the boat works. (Turn volume + vid quality to 480p as sound had to be edited quieter due to engine noise and having no external microphone)
Part 2 of the documentary featuring Brian the Cornish Scallop Fisherman - See what the dredges bring up and landing the catch.

It is a documentary of how a fresher fisherman learned to use the equipment on the ship. Lots of unstable shots which should be avoided according to my experience. However, the fidelity of sound recording is quite good. There are shots of fishermen singing with a happy mood, which also brings a happy mood to the audience. So I think I can record laugh of fishermen and edit it into the film to make it more enjoyable. This video also could be my learning resource, if I take my tutor’s idea. It is a good opportunity of learning.

Bob Gaffner Fishermen's Helper - 1950's Frith Films Educational Documentary

A young boy learns about the fishing industry at a large port.

This is a documentary with story that a little boy who wants to be a fisherman. The story was told by narrating. My tutor also gave me a similar idea which is to find a boy in the city and let him try to be a fisherman and make it a documentary.

In the reality, documentary that is totally objective is no existing, as the reality is full of accident and aimlessness. It is impossible for it to happen exactly like what we expected. Even if it does exist, it only shows the ostensible fact. That’s not what a documentary should be. An aesthetic documentary should be made with emotion, discoveries, choices and comments of its creator. http://www.docin.com/p-484199901.html

A fisherman's shark tale - Sharks: Great Whites in Britain? - BBC

A lobster fisherman, Brian Bate, shares his terrifying personal story of an unwelcome encounter with an aggressive shark in British waters. Fascinating video from BBC wildlife show 'Sharks: Great Whites in Britain?'

The story was told by Brain Bate while showing the image on the sea. The story made the documentary more attractive. But documentary is not only story-telling, it should be a tool of preserving the truth. Story-telling is only a vehicle to make it easier for the audience to understand the mean idea of the documentary. Using the story in a reasonably is the key to make the documentary better and meaningful.

The 14-day trip to Europe is from March 31 to April 13. In the days of 14 days, we went to10 countries of Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Vatican, Monaco and France. The film is about the stroy of 34 visitors on a coach who never knew each other before finally became the story of a warm and harmonious family.Interactive games between the passenger and the stories happened in the coach make a subtle change on their feelings every day.

In the coach we play together, laugh together, sleep together, look at the scenery together, eat together, sing together, share the joy. The last day of the April 13, we are reluctant to part with, and embraced each other farewell.

Titles and the end of the film I use animation in the form of expression. Its titles one by the sea surrounded by land map is used as background. Landmark building of each country are on land. Our coach depart from the first country and finally returned to England.

The font of the film subject is generated in the form of exhaust from the the this coach of eruption. One this trip the whole map of Europe was the same as the background of the credits, and the animation is our coach depart form UK surrounded the Europe and back.

The titles and the end of the film is produced by Photoshop and Flash. The main content is made by 269 video edited.
